The distance between connection points is the starting point for specifying a PTFE hose assembly. It is not, by itself, the required hose length.

Factors to consider

  1. Connection-point spacing. Measure the distance between the pump or other equipment and the receiving connection.
  2. Installation allowance. Allow for the actual installation and any movement or dimensional change. The allowance must suit the specific routing.
  3. End-fitting length. Account for flanges, unions and other fittings when defining the assembly dimensions.
  4. Minimum bend radius. The planned route must respect the minimum bend radius specified for the selected hose.
  5. Dimensional change under pressure. Obtain the relevant information from the manufacturer for the hose construction and operating conditions.
  6. Routing geometry. Bends and changes in direction affect the required length and must be included in the layout.

Bend radius and operating conditions

The permitted bend radius depends on the hose diameter, construction, reinforcement and service conditions. Temperature, pressure and movement must be considered when confirming the route.

The source article includes an indicative bend-radius table and a simplified length calculation. These are not used here as assembly design limits: a final length requires the geometry and the product-specific minimum bend radius.

Confirming the assembly length

Specify the measurement points, fitting dimensions and orientation on a drawing. Include enough information to assess the route, installation clearance and expected movement. Confirm whether the quoted dimension is the overall assembly length or the flexible hose length.

If the length is uncertain, send us the connection drawing and operating requirements. Our team can review the required hose type and dimensions for the application.
